Legislature Makes Progress on Environmental Priorities

An accord was reached between conservation groups and mining interests, ending an 18-year effort to stop the development of a large gold mine on Buckhorn Mountain in north central Washington State. Read The Seattle Times story about the agreement.

Despite a short 60-day session and a chilly revenue forecast, progress was made on all of the environmental community’s Priorities for a Healthy Washington.

All four Priority bills have now been signed into law. The success shows the broad support for the Priorities and highlights the powerful partnerships which support them. Read about it in The Olympian.
